Please READ OUR POLICY BELOW BEFORE ARRIVAL and if you have a group, please share with each of them:
• Must wear closed-toe shoes as you will be in our warehouse. (No sandals or flip-flops) Please wear comfortable clothing. Bring a light jacket or sweatshirt on colder days, Shorts are permitted on warmer days.
• Min. age is 13 years. Age 13-16 must have an adult 21 and older with them during the shift. Sorry no younger siblings will be permitted in our warehouse due to safety policies.
• All volunteers must be able to follow FDA Food inspection/sorting instructions that a staff member will go over at the BEGINNING of your shift.
• We schedule staff and activities around the number of volunteers that have scheduled. If you can’t make your shift, please cancel thru the online calendar so others can attend. We do track “no Shows” so please help us keep our calendar up to date.
• Complete project instructions are given at the beginning of the shift. Please be courteous to others and arrive a few minutes early so that our staff can give directions to the entire group of volunteers. Anyone arriving after 15 minutes late will be asked to reschedule.
• Groups or individuals that do not follow our safety procedures, use explicit language or do not follow instructions, will be asked to leave and will not be permitted to volunteer again. We strongly enforce this policy.
• If you need student verification, please ask the staff person during your volunteer shift.
• No Court Ordered or Pre-Trial Community Service is permitted during this shift.
• Please note that no food or drink is permitted in our warehouse. Please have your lunch or snack before arrival. Volunteers will be given bottled water only.
• Please leave valuables at home as we do not have any place to store items. We will not be held responsible for missing items.

Event Description:
Location: 500-B Spratt Street Charlotte NC
Min. Age 13 and older. NO YOUNGER SIBLINGS WILL BE PERMITTED. Must be with an adult 21 years of age during the entire shift. Groups must have 1 adult per 4 youth. Youth groups can only be a maximum of 20 people!
Individuals must be able to follow instructions given by our staff in order to sort donated food products as per FDA guidelines. Please note that volunteers are in our working warehouse with fast moving equipment such as forklifts and loud noises.
What will volunteers help with? SHFB volunteers help us inspect and sort donated food or non-food products here at our Charlotte Warehouse so that we can ship out those products to our partner agencies.
• OSHA requirement you must have closed-toe shoes on to participate as you will be in our working warehouse. No sandals, flip-flops or an open toe injury boot can be worn.
