Full Answers Provided by the Candidate:
1. Should zoning laws be more or less restrictive?
For the most part, I am fine with the zoning ordinances in the Town of Matthews. My main issue with zoning issues are when large, high-density developments are approved and built. I don’t think that the laws themselves need to be more strict.
2. Do you support or oppose the proposed transit sales tax hike?
I am going to vote ‘No’ for the sales tax hike. It’s already too expensive for me to eat out or to purchase things, this will just make it that much harder for the average citizen. Since I’m not an incumbent, if elected, I will deal with the results regardless of what it is.
3. Which areas of the budget would you cut if elected?
Though I have never served on the Town Council before, I am unsure of which item needs to be cut. My main focus will be to work within the budget given and not go over or pass that on to the citizens. I will treat it the same way I treat our budget for my family.
4. Should the government step back in areas better handled by the private sector?
Of course. Less government overreach the better, especially if it is already handled better in the private sector.
5. What is your most Libertarian stance, and why should Libertarians support you?
Lower taxes and smaller government. Though I’m a registered Republican, I believe that there are a number of other Libertarian policies that I would agree with as well.
